Giveaway, Review & Interview with Tami Anthony author of The Bachelorette Project

Photobucket

Here's a taste of The Bachelorette Project:

“Why am I always getting dumped by men?” I ask Karen. “It’s because I know nothing about them.”

“OK …” Karen replies, unsure to where I’m going with all of this.

“So, my visit to the hospital really got me thinking,” I say, “and then I remember you using the word ‘experiment’ so then I thought … ‘EXPERIMENT!’” I exclaim. “It’s a genius idea! I can conduct this experiment on what men really want out of women and how I, the quintessential single woman, could give it to them and possibly find my true love!” I clutch my chest, smile, and spin around. “Isn’t that the most perfect idea that you ever heard? I would be like a scientist, a scientist of love.”

Karen rolls her eyes at my idea. “And how, O Great One, will you conduct this experiment?”

“I got it all planned out.” I pull my completed poster board from underneath my bed and I hold it up for Karen to see. She, once again, looks confused.

“What the hell is that?” she asks, sighing.

“It’s my experiment,” I say excitedly. “I’m going scientific on their asses. It’s called ‘The BACHELORETTE Project.’ How I will conduct the experiment is shown here.” I point to the different sections of the board. “I will go on a series of dates using different tactics in different environments to find out what works for women and what doesn’t.”

“I’m listening,” Karen says as she leans forward.

“In the process, I will study the men that I date, categorize them and see what their likes and dislikes are thereby unlocking the many secrets of the male species.”

“Oh, I can tell you the secrets of men,” Karen says, smirking. “It’s sex, food, video games, and sports. If a man has those four things, then he’s a happy man.” I guess that makes sense. You know, the ‘four things philosophy,’ but I’m just certain that there has to be more. It can’t be that easy or I wouldn’t be single … right?

“Well, I’m still conducting my experiment,” I say confidently. “Maybe there are more than just four secrets. Maybe there are seven secrets.” As I nod my head, I convince myself that there has to be more. Not everything is just sex, food, video games, and sports.

”All right,” Karen starts, “so when does your little experiment start?”

“As soon as possible,” I tell her. “Now all I need is a trusty assistant …”

I interviewed Tami Anthony! :D This is what she shared with me:

What part of writing do you find the most challenging? Definitely editing! I find that editing is the most stressful and challenging part of the whole writing process. Editing is so important because readers will notice the misspellings and the grammatical errors, and it can be the one thing that can turn your audience away. It’s one of those things that is so time-consuming and sometimes boring, but it is definitely a necessity in writing.

What types of books do you like to read? I like different types of books, but I mainly stick with comedy, chick lit, and young adult genres. As much as I love reading classic books, I would say that I’m more into contemporary novels.

When people review your book, do you read the reviews personally, do you rely on others to let you know what’s being said, or do you prefer to not know? I read the reviews personally. I think it’s important to read the reviews to see what the audience likes and dislikes about my work. It’s not a vanity thing at all. The reviews are there to assist my craft in writing and I appreciate any feedback that I do receive. The fact that people have an interest in my work is awesome so their opinions are very valuable to me.

Who is the first person you call with good or bad news? That would be my mother. I tell her almost everything … ALMOST, LOL!

What type of music do you listen to? I listen to almost anything. I’m a big pop and jazz fan. Jamie Cullum is my all-time favorite artist. I like that mix of pop and modern jazz. Oh, and I’m a big advocate for 80s music. There’s something about Culture Club and Michael Jackson that really gets me going. And I like all boy band music…there, I said it.  lol! Because you're being so honest I'll admit that I like the boy bands and Culture Club too.

Do you prefer to go to the theater or wait for the DVD? DVD definitely! There’s something about cuddling up on my couch in my pajamas with a bowl of popcorn that’s just heavenly. I like to be comfortable and not restricted by a start time. Sorry, theater. That’s just how things are. There's nothing like being comfy while watching a movie!

What is your biggest pet peeve? Hmm, that’s a good question. I’d have to say really slow drivers (or people who have no idea where they are going) and price checks at the store for the customer that’s right in front of you who always tend to take forever. Drives me absolutely nuts, LOL! Oh, and slow internet connection. So would it be fair to say your biggest pet peeve is things that make you go slow? I have the same problem!

Fresh air or air conditioning? Depends on the season. If it’s unbearably hot, then I’d have to crank up the A/C. If it’s a nice spring or fall day, then I’d go with fresh air.

Beef, chicken, pork, or vegetarian? Sorry, PETA, but I’m a beef eater. Steak can be heavenly at times.

How likely are you to suffer from road rage? LOL, oh goodness! Let’s just say I have a bad habit of calling everyone else on the road a f#ckface (am I allowed to say that?), especially those who refuse to use turn signals or never turn their turn signals off. lol! People should be glad that we don't travel together. :-)

Thank you Tami for taking the time to answer my questions!

Title: The BACHELORETTE Project

Author: Tami Anthony

Date Published: 6/3/12

Synopsis:

When an unfortunate twist of fate leaves 28 year-old socialite Leslee Robinson broken-hearted and unemployed, she embarks on a journey to discover what boggles every twenty-something single woman’s mind: What do men REALLY want and how do you find the perfect mate? With the help of her two best friends; Annie, a self-conscious, sarcastic single mother; and Karen, the neurotic, perfectionist ‘bridezilla,’ Leslee creates The BACHELORETTE Project, a ‘scientific’ dating experiment designed to uncover the enigma of the male species.

After multiple dates gone awry and unanticipated encounters of the extreme, Leslee decides to confide in the last person that she’d ever consider asking dating advice from: Eric, her handsome, womanizing college friend with a well-known ‘love ‘em and leave ‘em’ reputation. Aside from Eric’s infamous bachelor tactics, Leslee can’t help but to be oddly attracted to him, but will pursuing the charming, ‘bad boy’ philanderer that Eric is even be worth the risk?

With unbelievable twists and a contemporary, comedic Chick-Lit feel, The BACHELORETTE Project is the chronicle of a single woman’s journey to finding true friendship, discovering herself, and learning the enigma of love down to a science.

**My thoughts**

Chick lit is not my usual type of book as those who follow my blog know. That being said, varity is the spice of life and change can be good. In this case, change was very good.

The BACHELORETTE Project was great! Many parts were outrageously funny. :D I really wouldn't like Leslee in the real world. She was fun to read about though!

This was just a really fun book to read. You should get a copy and read it today!

I recommend this to everyone who wants a fun story to read or those of you who like chick lit.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I honestly thought it was a good time read that I gladly recommend.
